No. 30L (or L-30) "Luxury Edition Streamlined" marbled black and pearl celluloid fountain pen, SIMPLO barrel imprint, gold-plated "teardrop" clip and two cap bands, elongated cap with inset white star. Push-knob filler. 136mm. No. 25 18K gold circle-vent Montblanc nib, quite flexible. Excellent condition, essentially mint, very clean and bright, no malformation to captop. A rare and sensational pen, seldom found in such exceptional condition. -Wallrafen, Stefan & Jens Rösler. Collectible Stars I: Montblanc 1908-1947. [Cologne: 2014], pp. 96-97. Scarcity rating of 9 ("Ultra-rare"). Jens Rösler remarked about this pen: "The streamlined Meisterstück L30 was the German answer to Sheaffer's stremlined pens of the early 1930s. The "L" stands for "luxury," not "long" as is sometimes believed. This range of pens was only produced for four years, and were normally available only in black and pearl, although a few very rare examples were made in green, brown and black. These pens are often found with black captops, because the original marbled captops were replaced due to celluloid shrinkage. Incidentally, the streamlined shape of this pen was the inspiration for the famous Meisterstück design of today, first introduced in 1949."
