Mohammad Jamshidi: A signed full silk Qum carpet, Persia. An outstanding, richly drawn medallion design executed to perfection with the use of the best materials and craftsmanship. Special features of the Mohammad Jamshidi workshop that makes the final work outstanding compared with other silk rugs is the natural dyed silk that has a glamorous gloss and a smooth touch(Mohammad Jamshidi Pour had continued with plant dyeing since the establishment of the atelier in 1966). Signed(by the famous master weaver): Mohammad Jamshidi. Highlight with red, green and white colored silk warps(the colors of the Iranian flag). C. 1.1–1.2 mio. kn. pr. sqm. C. year 2000. 300×198 cm. Mohammad Jamshidi Pour is a researcher of silk threads as well as a producer of carpets. His life’s work is to create as many colors of silk threads as possible that are strong, flexible, and beautiful at the same time. As a result of their research over many years, the Mohammad Jamshidi atelier succeeded in developing the highest-quality silk threads that are best suited to Persian carpets. Their threads are rich in gloss and soft and elastic, so the carpets woven with them can stand long use. While the Mohammad Jamshidi atelier releases novel designs, they have basic design characteristics. For instance, they have more patterns in the motif of mosques or Mehrab than others, and their carpets have such designs as historic Persian sites, ruins, and people and lucky animals, decorative figurines, and plants scattered across the carpet. Qum silk rugs are among the finest in the world. Although it does not boast a long and ancient history, Qum creates exceptional art works, frequently entirely in pure silk. Styles and patterns vary tremendously, as this city usually recreates ancient historical patterns from many other noble sources. Brilliantly detailed medallions, all-over patterns of the greatest intricacy, pictorials and hunting scenes.
