(A few minor repairs to text leaves, some minor marginal dampstaining.) Contemporary mottled calf (rebacked preserving original spine, corners repaired, joints cracked). Gamberti's description of the funeral services held in Modena in 1659 for FRANCESCO I D'ESTE (1610-1658), Duke of Modena and Reggio. The plates illustrate the funeral decorations on the facade of the Sant'Agostino church in Modena, where the funeral ceremony was held, the catafalque, and the view of the decorated interior, as well as important events in life of Francesco d'Este, especially his diplomatic and military successes. The genealogical chart, on 8 double-page plates, shows the history of the d'Este family.
