Beschreibung:

MITCHELL, MARGARET. Autograph letter signed ("Margaret Mitchell Marsh") to Marth Angley. Atlanta, 13 April 1936. 4 pages, 12mo, with original envelope hand-addressed by Mitchell, both letter and envelope laminated. "NOT ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE NOBLE AND BRAVE." Mitchell writes: I hope you will like the book [Gone With the Wind] -- but it isn't a 'white column in the moonlight-cape jessamime in Miss Melissy's hair' kind of book and not all the characters are noble and brave. Some years of research have convinced me that there were almost as many scoundrels!..." The rest of the letter is devoted to arranging a date for Angley to interview her: "...as for an interview -- well, it should be entertaining for [you] if you've never interviewed anyone. I've never been interviewed...My publication date is, presumably, May 5. But it has been changed so often that for all I know it may be changed again..."
