MISTER MYSTERY #5 * 3.5 * Boudoir of TERROR

Schätzpreis
150 $ - 250 $
Zuschlagspreis:
250 $
Beschreibung:

VG- (3.5). Spine stress, ¼" split at top spine, 1" split at bottom spine, a few tiny edge nicks and chips, ¼" chip to back cover at spine, light crease marks to bottom right corner of front cover, faded distributor's mark ("5 MAY '52) in blue ballpoint to "M" in "MYSTERY." Cream to off-white pages. Cover: Tony Mortellaro. Art: Tony Mortellaro, Walter Palais (Rudy's brother). GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. A 3.0 sold for $250 in August 2021; a 4.0 sold for $288 in January 2020. A monster invades a woman's boudoir at midnight (artist Tony Mortellaro has drawn a bedside clock to make sure we know it's the witching hour). The lady recoils in terror, attempting to cover her negligee-clad curves with a bedsheet. There's an undertone of sexual menace to many horror comics — the sexually rapacious monsters, mummies, vampires, and walking stiffs that prowl pre-Code mags seem like surrogates for sexual terrors too raw to depict except indirectly. Consignments welcome for PBA's Fall 2022 Comic Book sale. Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age and Silver Age comics, original art, vintage comic-related photos and ephemera sought. Send inquiries to [email protected] . A limited edition of 100 softcover and 6 hardcover catalogues are available. 140 pages, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcovers $40, dust-jacketed hardcover with limitation plate $200. To order, contact [email protected] .
