MILLET, Jean-François-(Francisque), attr. - [ Animated landscape ], s.d. Grey pen and wash, laid paper 22 x 16,5 cm; not signed. Stuck by upper margin. Old traces on verso, stamp on verso (somewhat visible on recto).
Mountain landscape in the background, with several travellers on a road and a river across the composition. Attr. by Maurice Dupuis (former director of the Ghent Museum of Fine Arts) and the collector to J.-Fr. Millet, French painter and engraver (Antwerp 1642-Paris 1679). According to a note, exhibited Laarne (Belgium, Flanders), 1971, n° 43. Provenance : stamp John MacGowan (2nd half 18th c., Lugt 1496) and Paul Eeckhout with his stamp (Lugt 824a), purchased "Vente Fiévez , Bruxelles, 15/5/1951, n° 315". We join , provenance Eeckhout : 4 drawings , s.d. Pen and wash, sm. size; not signed. Pasted on 3 modern ff. Margins uneven, small losses of paper to one drawing. Putti, allegories or scene with a man and a boy pulling and pushing a cart. Attr. to a "Van Reyschoot" by the collector.
