Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Talavera, Busaco, Albuhera (Sir Geo. Dalbiac, Major, 4th Dgns.) nearly extremely fine £1400-1600 Footnote John George Dalbiac was appointed Cornet in the 11th Light Dragoons on 21 February 1798; Lieutenant, 3 May 1800; Captain, 4th Light Dragoons, 15 October 1801; Major, 10 October 1811; retired, 19 December 1811. He served with the 4th Light Dragoons in the Peninsula 1809-11 and was present at the battles of Talavera, Busaco and Albuhera. He was subsequently made a Knight of the Order of Wilhelm of the Netherlands and died at Malines, Belgium, on 23 October 1848. His brother, Lieutenant-Colonel James Charles Dalbiac, was second-in-command of the 4th Light Dragoons and commanded in the absence of Lord Edward Somerset. He subsequently received a K.C.H. and the M.G.S. medal for Talavera and Salamanca. Sold with further research.
