Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Toulouse (C. Blois, Cornet 1st Dragoons) reverse suspension claw filed flat, otherwise nearly very fine £1000-1200 Footnote Charles Blois was born on 21 April 1794, eldest son of Sir Charles Blois, 6th Baronet, of Grundisburgh Hall, Suffolk. He entered the Army as Cornet in the 1st Dragoons, by purchase, on 10 December 1812, aged 18; Lieutenant, by purchase, 2 September 1813; Captain, 25 September 1823; Major, 27 October 1829; retired, 1 September 1830, and was subsequently Lieutenant-Colonel of the East Suffolk Militia. He served in Spain, as Lieutenant in the 1st Dragoons, from September 1813 to July 1814 and was present at the battle of Toulouse. He was also present at the battle of Waterloo, where he served in Captain Carden’s Troop, and was wounded on 18 June 1815. Sir Charles Blois succeeded his father as 7th Baronet in 1850 and died unmarried in 1855. Sold with copy Statement of Service and other research relating to the purchase of his cornetcy and lieutenancy.
