[MILANO] - FUMAGALLI, Angelo (1728-1804) - Le vicende di Milano durante la guerra con Federigo I Imperadore. Milan: Antonio Anielli, 1778. A copy on blue paper of the first edition of this fascinating historical work on Milan illustrated by Aspardi's fine engravings among which a large folding engraved map of Milan. This is the first book printed by the Tipografia del Monastero of S. Ambrogio. 4to (272 x 206mm). Half-title, engraved frontispiece and title within architectural border, 8 headpieces of which 2 with city views and 6 with coins and bas-reliefs, 3 initials and 5 tail-pieces, all engraved, a plate with a facsimile of a document and a splendid large folding map of Milan (few minimal marginal tears to folding view, occasional light spotting and staining in text). Contemporary boards backed in calf decorated in gilt (some wear to spine and extremities). Provenance: Dr. Francesco Falsati (contemporary ownership inscription noting the purchase from): - Raimondi.
