[Milan?, 1671]. 2 o (345 x 239 mm). 2 folding engraved portraits of the Duke and Duchess, 8 plates (all folding) most by G.A. BESOZZI or G.B. BONACINA after designs by CESARE FIORI (one patched on verso with minor loss). (A few pale dampstains, minor worming to a few margins.) Contemporary limp Spanish vellum. Provenance : early owner's inscriptions on title and portrait versos. EXCEEDINGLY RARE Spanish edition of this record of the obsequies for the young FELICHE DE SANDOVAL URSINO, III Duquesa de Uceda, the first wife of Gaspar Téllez-Girón, 5th Duke de Osuna, Spanish general and governor of Milan. The ornament, architecture and apparati were designed by the painter and architect Cesare Fiori (1636-1702). Many of the emblems and inscriptions were based on the histories of the Téllez Giróron and Sandoval families. At end is the eulogy by MONSEñOR MARAVILLA, the Bishop of Novara entitled 'El Anima Grande.' Palau mentions this Spanish language edition was printed in the same year as the bilingual edition in Latin and Italian, printed in double column. The plates of this Spanish edition correspond to the Italian/Latin edition. Palau 329787 (lacking some plates); see Cicognara 1469 (apparently this edition); Drugulin 2777 (Latin/Italian edition); see Vinet 788 (Latin/Italian edition).
