Michelin Tractor Tyres Pictorial El Sign
A rare & highly sought after single-sided enamel advertising sign, produced by Michelin in the c1940's/50's to advertise their range of tractor tyres. The sign features a sensational pictorial image of monsieur Bibendum driving an early tractor, within a green circle (over the yellow base enamel). The sign also features 'Michelin' text in white capitals to the top edge. Of the two types produced, this example happens to be the rarer type featuring flanged edges (for mounting within a wooden frame) & no tractor tyres text in green. One of the rarest of all Michelin signs produced, offered in very good original visual condition, save for light chipping to the edges & around the four outer mounting holes. Superb & approximately 45x65cm. The last example of this sign to go through auction sold for in excess of _800.
