MEROVINGIAN FRANKISH SILVER AND COPPER INLAID IRON PRICK SPUR Circa 6th-7th century AD. An iron prick spur with inlaid silver and copper decoration ( Tauschierung ) in the form of knotwork bands, vertical strips and cruciform elements; a separate rivetted plate with the prick to the rear; looped ends for attachment of the leather straps. Iron, silver and copper, 85 grams, 13 cm. Fine condition, with old repair. Very rare. Provenance From the private collection of an German Gentleman, acquired prior to 1982.
