He had attracted some fine Jazz talent, but the Club was failing financially when he secured some unknown financial backers – the “purveyors” who dined that night on Turtle Soup in Sherry, Lobster Thermidor and Filet Mignon. – for the more “upscale” venue which closed within the year.
