This is the volume by which Bateson was represented at the Printing and the Mind of Man Exhibition at Earl's Court in 1963. "Bateson stressed the importance of the study of discontinuance of variation in species, and suggested that variation resulted from Mendelian segregation rather than from evolution by natural selection. He showed that Darwin's concept of variation needed modification in the light of the new knowledge of genetics." (G & M). Lot Amendments Condition: Some wear to cloth, rubbing to extremities; hinges cracked, slight occasional foxing, some pencil notes on half title page; very good. Item number: 271373
