Brass dial signed "Markwick, London" has a 6.5 in. dia. chapter ring with black incised Roman hour numerals and 5 minute numbers, fancy pierced black hands, aperture cutout exposing the sub calendar ring, arched cutout with sun rocking with the beat of the pendulum and has fancy gilt winged putti corner spandrels; quality brass 8 day double fusee spring driven movement having fancy engraved plates, verge & crown wheel escapement, hour strike on a single bell at the top of the case with repeater string mechanism and also strikes on a nest of 6 bells. In excellent ebonized wood case with fancy pierced brass domical top and handle, corner finials, pierced brass mounted on the door front and ball & claw feet; in very good condition and original finish, including door key. 17 in. high x 10.5 in. wide x 6.5 in. deep.
