Manuscript, Rashi commentary on the Torah and the five Megillot, with a compilation of explanations and Midrashim by Rabbi Avraham ben Rabbi Yosef HaCohen. [Shibam – Yemen], 1744-1751. Complete manuscript on Rashi's commentary on the Torah, in handsome writing of the scribe Rabbi Avraham ben Yosef HaCohen of the city of Shibam in Yemen, with a compiled commentary integrated in special columns, with glosses on sheet margins. Based primarily on the commentary of Rabbi Yitzchak Abarbanel on the Torah [abridged and adapted to Rashi's commentary], with an anthology of various midrashim, compositions on the Torah and various sources in manuscripts or print [such as the Zohar, Rabbi Se'adia Gaon, Ralbag, Kitvei Ha'Ari, Elmarshad ElChafi, Midrash HaChefetz, Midrash HaGadol, Zera Berech, Siftei Cohen, Devek Tov, Rikanati, Shlosha Serigim, the Shla, Megale Amukot, etc.]. In one place, he copies a commentary "from the manuscript of my grandfather Oded Cohen". A colophon at the end of the commentary on the Torah: "Finished and completed what I wished to explain of the commentary on Devarim and it was completed on Friday the 15th of the month of Sivan". Afterward, Rashi's commentary on the five megillot appears, accompanied by a broad anthology of various Midrashim on the megillot. In the book's long epilogue he writes the objective of the work ["… and I have opened my eyes also to that… to arrange… my novellae on Rashi's commentary from Bereshit Raba and Rabbi Yitzchak Abarbanel and Yalkut Devarim which are difficult to comprehend and some of their words which are relevant and those which are irrelevant to Rashi's commentary…"] and in the end he signs: "This is the supplication of a broken heart… Avraham son of Rabbi Yosef HaCohen… completed on Friday Seder VaYeshev Ya'akov 11th of the month of Kislev…". On the first and last pages ["binding leaves"] are compilations on various topics. Approximately 380 written pages. 21 cm. Good-fair condition, stains, wear and tear, moth damage. Several detached leaves. Unbound.
