Manuscript, "Memorial Book" for "the donors who contributed to G-d's dwelling". Notebook of Rabbi Yehuda Abu, an emissary for the "Torat Eretz Yisrael Yeshiva" and the "Talmud Torah HaKlalit" of the Ridvaz in Safed [1913-1914]. Rabbi Yehuda Abu's visit to France and England, South America, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, India, Burma, Singapore and China are recorded in the notebook. Title page at the beginning of the notebook. Pasted next to the title page is a printed leaf with the regulations of the Talmud Torah. At the top of each leaf the Talmud Torah's official title is printed (Hebrew and English). On the first leaves are recommendations by the Safed rabbis in Hebrew, Yiddish and English. The recommendations are signed [with stamps of signatures and official stamps] by Rabbi Naftali Chanalis, Rabbi Yosef Rabinowitz, Rabbi Ya'akov David Ridvaz and Rabbi Yosef Konwitz. Thereafter is another recommendation with the stamps of the Kollelim and institutes in the city of Safed as well as signatures of Rabbi Baruch Kahanna, Rabbi Asher Yechezkel HaLevi Horowitz, etc. Handwritten recommendations and signatures of Rabbi Moshe Klirs Av Bet Din of Tiberias and Rabbi Aharon Mendel HaCohen Av Bet Din of Cairo. The notebook records the donations collected in various cities with the name of the donors and handwritten signed recommendations of the cities' rabbis: Rabbi Yoel Leib HaLevi Herzog, Av Bet Din of Paris, Rabbi Menachem Dov Dogutsky (Manchester), Rabbi Shmuel Ya'akov Rabinowitz of Liverpool, Rabbi Shaul Sithon (of the Aleppo community in Buenos Aires), Rabbi Aharon Weisman (Buenos Aires), and other rabbis. The notebook also contains a list of expenses, addresses, etc. On page 174 is a list of amounts which "I have sent to my wife", from the city of Beirut, Aleppo, Mosul, Baghdad, Basra, Calcutta, Rangoon, Singapore and Shanghai. 192 pages. 21 cm. Fair condition. Stains, wear and tears. Worn and damaged binding.
