Title: Manuscript document signed by George Ross, as an attorney, being an obligatory bill summoning James Robb to appear in court and make payment of money owed to Jacob Huber Author: Ross, George, Signer from Pennsylvania Place: Cumberland Co., PA Publisher: Date: 1758 Description: 1½ pp., in ink, on both sides of single sheet of paper, 31.5x18.5 cm (12½x7¼"). Ornately matted with double-sided plexiglass, along with a portrait & engraved metal descriptive plaque, wooden frame. Overall 57x66 cm (22½x26"). George Ross, Jr., (1730-1779) was a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence as a representative of Pennsylvania. He was also the uncle of the man who married Betsy Griscom in 1773, giving her her famous married name: Betsy Ross. The document refers to an unpaid debt of £28, that has now swelled to £56, plus attorney's fees. Lot Amendments Condition: Document with old folds with browning along them, some chipping at top and bottom edges, about very good, handsomely framed. Item number: 244078
