Manufacturer: Plichta Artist: Joe Nekola Description: Large Jan Plichta pig with raspberry decoration hand painted by Joe Nekola. The blue eyes of the pig are hand painted as are the eye lashes. Signed on the bottom in black slip, “Plichta London England” and “Nekola Pinxt.” Excellent condition with fine overall crazing. The mold for the pig comes originally from the Wemyss Pottery which sold the rights to produce to the Bovey Tracey Pottery were Joseph Nekola did much of the decorating. Bovey Tracey closed in 1952. Many of the Bovey Tracey pigs are marked by its distributor, Jan Plichta.
