Wissmann published his diaries partly because they illustrated 'the terrors incidental to the slave-hunt and to the transport of the unfortunate human chattels ....' They include several references to Stanley. Hosken p. 210; together with Wilhelm Junker Travels in Africa during the Years 1875-1878 (London, 1890), Carl Peters New Light on Dark Africa (London, 1891), and T.E.
