Malayan Airmails Pioneer and Early Flights 1911 Ross Smith England - Australia Flight Ross Smith, Keith Smith, J.M. Bennett and W.H. Shiers left London on 12 November in a Vickers "Vimy" G-EAOU and arrived in Singapore on 4 December and Darwin 10 December, winning the £10,000 England-Australia air race. Mail was taken on board in England, more was uplifted en-route including Singapore. 1920 (26 Feb.) envelope addressed to Miss M. Goldring in Sydney, bearing blue vignette label tied by "first aerial mail/great britain to australia" oval d.s. with another clearer strike alongside and showing, "south british/singapore" handstamp on the inside of the back flap and manuscript "6/12/19" on reverse in the same handwriting as the address, the date of departure from Singapore; a little soiled. Rare, one of twelve covers originating from Singapore recorded. Photo
