Mahogany Empire Shelf Clock by Silas B. Terry, Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1833-39, with elaborately carved crest, turned half columns flanking the dial and lower sections, painted wooden dial with Roman numerals, gilt scroll spandrels and raised gilded dots around the 5-in. dia. movement viewing area, columns flanking the reverse-painted lower glass with green draperies pulled back to reveal a reverse-painted tablet depicting a Greek Revival dwelling, frame and attached to the backboard, the bottom board with printed paper label stating Silas B. Terry, Horologist, Manufacturer of Clocks, Time-pieces and Regulators, Plymouth, Conn., eight-day brass movement with skeletonized front plate, between the plates center mounted countwheel, recoil escapement, iron weights and pendulum, ht. 38 1/2 in.
