Collation: [1-3 8 4 1 0; 5-16 8 17 6 18-33 8 34 1 0] blank, 1/2r preface by Farinator, 1/3r tables, 4/10v blank; prologue and text, 34/9v colophon, blank). 274 leaves. 43 lines and headline, double column. Type: 1:180G some headings), 2:108G (other headings), 3:97 aG (text). 2- to 7-line initial spaces, some with printed guide-letters. First initial supplied in blue flourished red, remaining initials in red. (Tear into text on r1 without loss, small wormholes.) Binding : contemporary Augsburg binding of blind-tooled calf over unbevelled wooden boards (Kyriss shop 80), sides tooled with Rautengerank, compartments filled with pineapple tool, border of repeated rosettes, rebacked ca. 1600 with roll-tooled pigksin, spine liner and one quire guard from a small-format manuscript breviary on vellum (calf worn, two clasps missing). Provenance : Rottenbuch (Bavaria), Augustinian canons: 17th-century inscription, 1/2r -- Munich, Royal Library, duplicate: "Duplum" on first page -- Graf Konrad Reuttner von Weyl: sale, Bloomsbury Book Auctions, 31 October 1985, lot 125 (to Lathrop Harper). Fourth edition of this 14th-century collection of "exempla". Like other incunable editions, this Strassburg edition prints a variant of version B of the text, one of three which circulated under the title of Lumen animae .
