Louis Vuitton Monogram Trunk. Monogram canvas exterior with wood straps on the lid having brass tacks, metal corner straps, iron side handles, brass front latches signed "Jo. Champs Elysees, Paris, Louis Vuitton, London, 149 Bond St.", serial number on lock plate 060311. Interior with original Louis Vuitton strapped crate, Louis Vuitton label under the lid and ink stamped serial number 153884. A painted monogram "A.T. McL" as well as a transport label on the bottom of the trunk reads "American Railway Express Co. - For Mrs. James McLean, 907 Fifth Ave, New York"; James McLean was president of Phelps, Dodge Mercantile Co. and officer and director in many railroads and mining enterprises in New York, an important figure in New York City history (1846-1905). 21 in. high x 24 in. wide x 18.5 in. deep.
