Shows the area of the former British colonies: the Eastern seaboard, Caribbean islands with the adjacent South American coast, Mississippi basin with New Mexico, and Central America, inset maps of Baffin and Hudson's Bay, and of part of California, showing "The Passage by Land to California Discover'd by Father Eusebius Kino... between the years 1698 and 1701, before which, and for a considerable time since, California has always been described in all Charts & Maps as an Island", engraved cartouche showing merchants relaxing at harbor, a ship in the background being loaded with cargo by black slaves. Based on Thomas Pownall's four-sheet map. Very good condition.
