Lots 104 to 134 The Douglas Sweet Collection of Silver Spoons Mr Sweet started his collection of spoons by giving his wife a birthday present of a spoon. This acted as a catalyst for him collecting examples from the 17th and 18th centuries with an emphasis on the Sweet family of silversmiths through to trying to amass as many examples of picture-backs that he could find. His wife hopes that the sale of the collection gives an opportunity to collectors both young and old to buy a piece of it and to continue her husband s enthusiasm for collecting.
