Beschreibung:

comprising four sixth plate portraits plus a ninth plate, all in fine Union cases including three with patriotic motifs. Three of the tintypes are tentatively identified. The uniformed tintype of a private wearing 12 button shell jacket has an old inked tag with the name Isaac Wilson/Milan, Michigan. No one so-named could be found serving in Michigan cavalry or artillery. A double sixth plate case contains a pre-war civilian daguerreotype having an old pencil identification of Mickey Shilthorn. This may be Private Michael Shilthorn who later served in Co. I, 5th Pennsylvania (three months) with accompanying National Archives records. Another sixth plate tintype housed in patriotic case depicts a man in civilian attire wearing a kepi. The remaining sixth plate tintype appears to show a musician holding an accordion, although the plate is too dark to ascertain the uniform. The ninth plate tintype portrait also in a patriotic case is identified in contemporary hand with family notation as Handel N. Parker, Co. K, 11th Connecticut Infantry. Parker joined in October 1861 as a private and mustered out in December 1865 as sergeant. Condition: Four sixth plates G, undamaged with one dark as noted. Ninth plate with abrasions around mat opening, G. All five Union cases complete with typical edge and corner wear, near VG.
