(California) Lot of 35 panoramic photographs of early 20th c. Bay Area, bulk 1906-1911 Date Published: 1906-1927 Description: 34 photographs on paper, 1 photographic negative on transparent plastic. Widths vary from about .3-1.5 m (1-5'); only heights given. Each photo rolled and housed together in one antique hardshell leather case. Collection primarily of sweeping views of San Francisco in the few months of 1906, prior to the devastating earthquake of April 18th, as well as photos of the immediate aftermath and three and five years after the quake. Views include from the Call Building at Market and Third Streets sweeping northward to the Fairmont atop of Nob Hill. Together with panoramic views of Oakland, Berkeley, and Fresno; multiple copies of a view of a field of oil derricks; other miscellaneous panoramas from the 1920s. Most photos from R. J. Waters & Co. and George R. Lawrence. At least some photos printed later. A set of uncommon images.
