Lot of 31. Includes 3 sixth plate daguerreotypes, 8 sixth plate ambrotypes, 7 ninth plate ambrotypes, one ninth plate tintype, 10 sixteenth plate daguerreotypes, 1 sixteenth plate ambrotype, and one CDV of Union General Nathaniel P. Banks. Highlights include a sixth plate daguerreotype portrait of a gentleman with a kind expression and endearing pose; a sixth plate ambrotype of a rather plain woman wearing a brooch, housed in a pressed paper case with a newspaper clipping announcing the marriage of a "Mr. John G. Flanders, of New York, to Miss Anmna, daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Plummer of this city" pinned to velvet pad; a pair of ninth plate images of the same gentleman from the same sitting, housed together in a double pressed paper case; a ninth plate ambrotype of a woman wearing a polka dot dress, housed in a pressed paper case with three scraps of paper including a partial admission ticket to a "Prize Dance" at Mechanics' Hall in Oneida on January 1st, 1862 and a handwritten identification reading, "G. P. Taylor, / Salem;" and a sixteenth plate daguerreotype portrait of a woman oriented horizontally on the plate. Provenance:Marvin Lieber Collection of Early Photographica Condition: Images with varying condition issues including darkening, tarnish, spotting, and crackling/flaking to emulsion. Cases with general wear and tear including some separation at spine (at least one case almost fully separated), wear to velvet pad, and loss to finish.
