Title: Lot of 3 ledger books, presumably each from Bruml Brothers, Dealers in General Merchandise (Hay, Grain and Warehousemen), Lockeford, California, from 1901 to 1916 Author: Bruml Brothers Place: Lockeford, CA Publisher: Date: 1901-1916 Description: Comprises: Taller leather-bound ledger, half red morocco and soft calf, stamped in gilt. 13½x8¾. 280 pages with hand-written entries showing the business transactions / accounting information between the Bruml Brothers and the various other companies. Approximately 120 blank pages. Several related paper items (receipts, local newspapers, etc.), laid in: including Sept. 24, 1898 issue of the Lockford Eagle (Vol. 1, No. 3), 2 copies of The Tokay (Lodi, CA) from October & December, 1921, and other newspaper clippings. Blank letterhead from the Bruml Brothers (Julius L. and Henry J. Bruml), stating agents for W.F. & Co.’s Express (Wells Fargo). Rubberstamped: Isaac Upham Co, Stationers, San Francisco, 1911. * December 1901 accounting ledger book, 12x7½, gray cloth stamped in black, leather corners. No official title or location identified, but last hand-written entry tipped-in and rubberstamped “[Age]nt for Wells Fargo Co.” on the top margin. With 67 total hand-written page entries, nearly each line completely filled with accounting information with various companies for various goods and services, all in pencil. * And a Baker & Hamilton (of Sacramento) ledger book, with 59 hand-written pages containing various notes, poems, quotes, ramblings, etc. written by Leonard Bruml, and includes 13 loosely laid in hand-written pages of further poems, notes, essays, etc. by Leonard Bruml. Perhaps done for personal use or practice or for school. 10¼x8, cloth-backed marbled boards. Contents mostly dated from 1916; however, does include an interesting 3-page laid-in essay on the American Red Cross, dated 1919 (during the tail end of the last great Pandemic). Together, 3 volumes. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing, edge wear, a few stains; other general wear; very good overall. Item number: 167033
