Lot consists of: (A) The first of two, this Model 12 Smithsonian bowie features a carbon steel blade of 3/8" stock with a lugged brass guard. Randall "extras" include a brass scalloped collar and coolie cap, with a straight shaped handle of Westinghouse yellow micarta with black spacers. The blade retains its "Randall Made, Orlando, FLA." mark and has been mirror polished. The primary and top edges are sharpened. The handle has been scrimshawed on the reverse side with "Western Eagle Trading Post" and an illustrated eagle. The original owners name is marked below the eagle. No sheath. CONDITION: The blade shows rust spots and pitting on both sides and the top spine. There are several nicks and flat spots in both edges. The solder joint appears clean and original. The brass lugged guard is tarnished with pitting, nicks and one large ding. The brass fluted collar and coolie cap are tarnished, and there are scratches, light scrapes and small dings in the handle. (B) The second of two Model 12 Smithsonian bowies, this knife features a carbon steel blade of 3/8" stock with a very distinct "Randall Made, Orlando, FLA." mark, along with a lugged brass guard. Randall "extras" include a handle of Westinghouse yellow micarta with thin black spacers and a brass pommel. The knife appears to be a Randall kit knife (available from 1951 to 1974) assembled outside of the Randall shop. The original owners name and number is on the reverse side of blade. The micarta handle has been ground into a contoured shape with an hourglass shaped brass pommel cap No sheath. CONDITION: The carbon steel blade has been buffed and cleaned, with evidence of deep pitting and heavy rusting that has been removed. Lightly sharpened primary edge, with amateur solder work at the heavily tarnished brass guard. Randall Made Knives of Orlando, Florida has been in business since 1938, when its founder "Bo" Randall took his inspiration, from an original Scagel knife, to a full time profession. Randall Made Knives have since created a following and a reputation that is readily known and easily recognized around the world. Name Value Blade Length (A) 10 - 7/8" (B) 11" Overall Length (A) 16 - 3/16" (B) 16 - 15/16" Paperwork Serial Number
