Together, 15 color linoleum block prints, on sheets 19½x13½. Each signed, titled, numbered and dated in pencil at the bottom of the image. Henry Evans’ sought after state flower linocuts. Henry Evans (1918–1990), proprietor of the Porpoise Book Shop and Peregrine Press, began making botanical prints around 1958, depicting some 1400 subjects in 31 years. During those years he was accorded more than 250 one-man shows in many countries around the world and almost every state. Self-taught as a printer, botanist, and artist, he drew directly from living subjects. He used linoleum as a printing surface and an 1852 Washington Hand Press to make the prints. After printing, the blocks were destroyed. Lot Amendments Condition: Nine of the prints have small pinholes in the upper corners; near fine to fine. Item number: 189092
