Amsterdam: Albertus Magnus, 1687. Engraved frontispiece dated 5447 (1687), signed B[enjamin Senior] G[odines]. 12mo, 127 x 72 mm. (5 x 2 7/8 in.), contemporary sharkskin over thin wooden boards, worn; some staining. Vinograd, Amsterdam 550; Fuks HTN 2/606; Steinschneider 2619; Zedner 485. As the famous Amsterdam bookbinder Albertus Magnus, who died in Amsterdam in 1689, did not have a printing house of his own, it has to be assumed that this Hebrew book of blessings and its Spanish/Hebrew edition were actually printed in the officina of another Amsterdam Hebrew printer, most likely David de Castro Tartas (see Fuks). In his introduction the editor Benjamin Senior Godines, the artist responsible for the title-page, mentions the fact that he found the manuscript that was used for the text of this edition in the collection of the renowned Amsterdam Sephardic book-collector and maecenas Isaac de Matatiah Aboab, who also produced the Spanish translation contained in the bi-lingual edition.
