On 26 May 1930, Lindbergh politely tells Gladys Wrigley of the American Geographical Society that he is unable to proofread an article: "Your letter of February 3rd did not come to my attention until now because of my absence. I regret the delay in answering it. Lack of time prevents me from checking over proofs but any article that is satisfactory to the Carnegie Institution is satisfactory to me." Some six months later he thanks Mr. Raye R. Platt of the Hispanic American Research Department of the American Geographical Society "for the copy of your latest publication on Peru." And five days later he thanks famed American geographer and Presidential advisor, Isaiah Bowman for the "very pleasant and interesting afternoon" that Lindbergh and his wife spent at the American Geographical Society the previous Friday. "We enjoyed the afternoon immensely." (4)
