LINCOLN. Mary Todd]. A folding horn and sequined paper fan, with box. Owned by Mary Todd Lincoln, mid-19th century. A FAN OWNED BY MARY TODD LINCOLN. Extends to 20 x 11 inches. Consisting of two tapered wooden flanking shafts, both with inlaid green, pink and silver stars; hinged hand-stitched silk with 16 thin, narrow, horn sticks; the silk front decorated with green and silver sequins and tiny stars in a garland design. Labeled red in one panel "Duvelleroy." Circular horn ring at bottom. The accompanying box covered in white silk, 12 x 2½ x 1½ inches. Some sequins missing, one side shaft broken but repairable . The box a bit worn. Another creation of the Parisian firm of Duvelleroy.
