Author: [Trumbull, Henry] Place: Providence Publisher: Printed by Henry Turnbull Date: 1824 Description: 108 pp. Copper-engraved frontispiece. (12mo) 6½x4, period leather-backed boards. First Edition. Potter fought (allegedly) at Bunker Hill, was wounded then captured by the British, taken to England, where he earned his living by crying "Old Chairs to Mend" though the streets of London. He finally returned to his native country after 48 years, at age 79. Howes calls this a "Purported autobiography, of dubious authenticity." Howes T371. Lot Amendments Condition: Binding well rubbed and worn but sound, paper peeled off lower third of front board; foxing and soiling within, repair to frontispiece, lacking front free endpaper, good condition Item number: 168450
