The Episcopal minister to whom Agee's letters printed in the book are addressed, James Harold Fly, met Agee when the latter was a boy of ten, and their correspondence continued until Agee's death in 1955. The letters from Flye to Erwin date from the 1960's and '70's. There is also a letter from Harvey [Simons] to John and Bob, 1983, relating Father Flye's severe health difficulties.
