Letter reads: "Dear Major David, I was indeed touched to receive the lovely present from you for Christmas which you had brought back from Hong Kong. Thank you very much indeed for your very kind thought of me, and it will be most useful. With all good wishes for the New Year and my renewed thanks. Yours sincerely Elizabeth R".
