Based in Newburgh, New York City, the Teutul family's Orange County Choppers is the most famous chopper-building specialist in the world, thanks to extensive coverage of its activities on the Discovery Channel show, 'American Chopper'. Built around a theme, the bikes OCC created for 'American Chopper' led to the introduction in 2007 of a limited series of production models incorporating design elements pioneered on the show, while more recently the company has increasingly turned to the production of bespoke motorcycles for corporate and celebrity clients. The stunning looking creation offered here was originally commissioned by PDQ Manufacturing Inc of De Pere, Wisconsion, makers of 'touch-free' vehicle wash equipment. Displaying an amazing standard of craftsmanship and detail, this unique, custom-built motorcycle is powered by a 2,105cc H&L 'Gladiator' v-twin engine driving via a five-speed transmission and belt final drive. Originally titled 'LaserWash Spirit of Invention', the machine made its public debut at the International Car Wash Association's 'Car Care World Expo' held in San Antonio, Texas in April 2005, and afterwards was displayed at PDQ's headquarters. Currently in the hands of its second owner, this astounding machine has been altered to reflect the change of ownership, the original references to PDQ having been removed from the fuel tank by award-winning custom painter, Piers Dowell. In addition, the air filter outer cover, seat covering and battery have been replaced and a full service carried out, all of these works being undertaken in 2010. Believed to be the only OCC chopper currently in the UK, 'American Spirit of Invention' is offered with owner's manual, PDQ press release, build details, State of Wisconsin Certificate of Title and a quantity of related photographs.
