Beschreibung:

This beautiful 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible has been driven less than 10,000 careful miles since new. Documented to have been in the original owner's family until 2010, it is presented here in superior cosmetic and operating condition, the result of an extraordinarily thorough reconditioning in 2005. The Cadillac was purchased new by Mr. William Luria, a resident of York, Pennsylvania. Mr. Luria was the President both of Luria Iron & Steel, and of the Pennsylvania State Bar Association. According to a comprehensive family history of the car, Mr. Luria owned many vehicles, and drove the Cadillac only to visit the final resting place of his mother—traveling there on a road he had paved for that purpose. The Cadillac was put up on blocks in 1953. There it would remain until 1979, when ownership passed to a nephew. The odometer at that time showed 3,429 miles. Following a clean up, the revived Cadillac received both Class and Division first-place awards at a 1979 York Concours d'Elegance. Mr. Luria's nephew also drove the convertible sparingly—mostly to the golf course—and carefully maintained it for a quarter of a century. By 2005, the still all-original Cadillac was evidencing some minor "time-induced maladies." An extensive professional restoration was commissioned that would return the car to a like-new appearance and mechanical condition. "Everything except the chrome was replaced with new original material, at great cost," the family history records. The exterior was expertly refinished in the original Chester Green and the interior and top were authentically renewed. The under-hood appearance received much attention, with the engine and transmission being removed, resealed, repainted and fully detailed. Most other mechanical components and systems were also detailed and brought to as-new operational condition—a listing of specific steps taken fills four single-spaced pages! When acquired by vendor in 2010, the Cadillac had covered but 9,952 miles. The 1951 Cadillac, with its signature tailfins, was styled under the direction of the great General Motors chief designer Harley Earl. Its smooth, robust and surprisingly economical OHV V-8 engine, backed by a GM Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, delivered performance worthy of a car recognized as one of world's finest in its time. Offered with a unique, well-documented, and interesting history, the Cadillac represents an unusual opportunity to acquire a very low mileage vehicle that has been cosmetically restored to near perfection and fully reconditioned operationally.
