Lesney Model of Yesteryear factory colour trials, 1970s The following fifteen models were presented for colour approval by NPCM No. 22 Auburn , with brown base, cream sides and grille, masked-sprayed caramel on top of body, red interior, solid wheels, chrome windscreen, headlights, bumpers and grille No. 22A Auburn , with brown base, yellow sides and grille, masked-sprayed brown on top of body, red interior, red solid wheels, chrome windscreen, headlights, bumpers and grille (no YY number or production date, only 197-) No. 23 Stutz Bearcat , with dark red base, cream sides of body, light red masked-sprayed top of body, chrome windscreen, bumpers and radiators and multi-spoked wheels No. 24 Packard Victoria , with black base, red sides of body, masked-sprayed black top of body, white roof, solid wheels, chrome bumpers and headlights No. 24A Packard Victoria , with dark brown base, gold body, black roof, solid wheels, red interior and gold bumpers and headlights No. 25 Mercedes Benz 540 , with dark green base, yellow sides of body, masked-sprayed dark green top of body, chrome chassis, bumpers, headlights, grille and windscreen, brown interior, multi-spoked wheels and dicky seat sprayed brown inside (no YY number and production date) No. 25A Mercedes Benz 540 , with metallic blue base, grey sides of body, masked-sprayed metallic blue top of body, chrome chassis, bumpers, headlights, grille and windscreen, beige interior, multi-spoked wheels and dicky seat sprayed brown inside No. 26 Duesenberg , with dark red base, metallic red body, black roof and interior, chrome bumpers, windscreen, headlights and grille and multi-spoked wheels No. 26A Duesenberg , with metallic red base and body, black roof and interior, chrome bumpers, windscreen, headlights and grille and solid wheels No. 27 Lagonda , with gold base, metallic orange body, black interior, gold bumpers, windscreen and radiator and solid wheels No. 28 Prince Henry Vauxhall , with red body, silver bonnet, black base, cream interior, gold windscreen and radiator, red spoked wheels and white wall tyres No. 29 Rolls-Royce , with yellow body, black base, roof and interior, gold windscreen and headlights, red spoked wheels and white wall tyres No. 34 Europa Caravan , with white body, hot-stamped chrome window frames, brown trim, hot-foiled red lights, black 50-speed limit, hand-painted red curtains at windows, blue base and door and red jockey wheel (all tooling trials had been completed on this product, no K number and production date, only 197-) No. 34A Europa Caravan , with cream body, masked sprayed white roof, hot foiled silver window frames, red lights, black 50-speed limit and brown trim, hot foiled orange curtains at windows, brown door, white base, red jockey wheel and back legs (offered to the new products committee meeting for colour approval) No. 35 Porsche Turbo , with metallic green body, black label on roof, window frames hot foiled silver, dark green boot lid and base, black bumpers and red rear light (offered to the new products committee meeting for colour approval) SUNBEAM MOTORCYCLE AND SIDECAR Jack Odell and Les Smith wanted a model which was to be one of the first models made to celebrate thirty years of manufacturing. They decided on the Sunbeam motorcycle. Six colours were chosen. All six were sprayed, only three of the motorcycles were assembled. These were shown to Jack Odell and Les Smith, just to get their feelings on the product. After long deliberation, they decided not to use this product. They would look at something else in their range, but they may come back and use the motorcycles. That was their last word.
