LEONETTO CAPPIELLO (1875-1942) FERNET-BRANCA. 1911. 78x48 inches, 198x122 cm. P. Vercasson, Paris. Condition B: wrinkles, creases, abrasions and overpainting in image; light vertical and horizontal folds. Framed. From 1903, Cappiello began to change his approach to poster design. He began to invent characters, and repetition in advertisements, some of them became associated with the products. The first, in 1903, was the green lady on a red horse advertising Chocolat Klaus. Other classics include the 1910 Cinzano zebra and Chocolat Poulain's foal. Fernet Branca belongs to the same group of early visual devices that Cappiello designed.
