Includes: 104-page typed transcript for the July 1, 1964 day of trial with the complete testimony of Dorothy Kilgallen, the nationally syndicated journalist, columnist, and television panelist who testified in Bruce’s defense. The first question: “Miss Kilgallen, other than being a housewife, do you have any other profession?” Also the redirect testimony of defense witness Richard Gilman, NY literary and drama critic. Signed by the court reporter in ink at the end; lacking pages 1 and 3, several pages torn or stained. 15-page typed transcript of Bruce’s performance used as evidence in the trial, on legal onion skin paper. Typed and photocopied transcripts of the trial testimony of Dorothy Kilgallen, Nat Hentoff, and Reverend [Forrest] Johnson -- transcribed from tapes recorded by Bruce. Approximately 20 pages. A 77-page “verbatim transcription of a tape recording played in court” [April 7, 1964, second show] This transcript is a mix of typed original and typed carbon pages with several holographic annotations and insertions by Bruce and four pages of Bruce’s typed “footnotes” to the transcript; also several notations and corrections that appear to be secretarial. The transcript is a public record; we believe Bruce’s footnotes are not available elsewhere. A manila file folder with 9 pages of typed notes for his appeal of the conviction, with extensive holographic notes and annotations by Bruce on the first two pages. An assortment of random notes, letters, memoranda, etc. A mix of typed, typed carbon, and vintage photocopies or photostats -- some of the documents are incomplete. Approximately 120 pages in all.
