LEIGH FERMOR, Patrick. Mani, Travels in the Southern Pelopennese. London: John Murray 1958 8°. Half title, frontispiece by John Craxton, photographed illustrations by Joan Eyres Monsell. Original red cloth gilt, dust-jacket designed by John Craxton (a few short tears without loss). FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, the front free endpaper inscribed in blue pencil, 'For Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret, with the author's humble duty, Patrick Leigh Fermor ... Feb. 1959' , the inscription within a blue pencil cloudburst and eye, with a quote in Pelopennese followed by a question mark. Loosely-inserted is a 2-page autograph letter from the author to Princess Margaret thanking her for a lovely evening and complimenting her on her 'glorious interpretation of West Side Story which knocked spots off the play earlier on, for pure entertainment ...' With the same author's A Time of Gifts (London, 1977) and Three Letters from the Andes (London, 1991), both FIRST EDITIONS in dust-jackets INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO PRINCESS MARGARET. (3)
