LEFAUCHEUX FOR ARNOTT & CIE A FINE CASED 7mm PINFIRE TWENTY-SHOT ENGRAVED REVOLVER, serial no. 692, circa 1865, with blued over-under 5in. barrel configuration, applied fore-sight surrounder by an engraved field of scrolls, engraved bead band to muzzles, further scroll engraving to barrel throats and mount, the underside marked 'L.F.', fully fluted and blued twenty-shot staggered cylinder firing on alternate outer and inner chambers, florally engraved open blued iron frame, the recoil shield with full pin guard engraved with a beaded band around the outside and a floral band to the rear face, the right side with a rotating safety catch, external spurred hammer with sighting notch to the nose and decorative tail to head, foliate engraved front and back-straps, smooth flared ivory grips, lanyard ring at heel, folding trigger with over-travel stop and sideways hinged plunge extractor, strong amount of probable original finish and complete in its presentation walnut case with brass rounded corners and inlaid banding to lid, central vacant complex escutcheon, the interior lined in the Continental style in purple velvet accommodating the revolver, a turnscrew with faceted ebony handle and ivory pommel, and ebony and brass cleaning rod also with ivory pommel, and ebony oiler with ivory stopper and two lidded compartments with ebony handles, one for ammunition, brass escutcheon to the case lock (key included) and the inside of lid gold blocked 'SIR JOHN' over 'ARNOTT & CIE'
