Beschreibung:

Unidentified conifer species Koroit, Queensland, Australia On the northern edges of the Great Artesian Basin—the ancient shoreline of a vast inland sea and a few hours drive northeast of Yowah is a tiny locality of Koroit. One of the newer Australian localities in which opal has been found, the material, which originates from here, is exceptional. While boulder opal material, and nodules, are much more commonly in found in Queensland, it is very rare to find the opalized replacement of an entire tree limb, particularly one as large as this one. This is the largest known specimen of precious opalized wood from southwest Queensland, available on the market to our knowledge. The limb, which must have endured great tectonic pressures, was recovered in six sections. Rather than polishing the section faces, the miner has chosen to leave them in their natural state, to appeal to the purist mineral collector. Overall this specimen is in excellent state of preservation including natural bark texture over all external surfaces. They exhibit an array of electric blue, green and white veining in the rich chocolate brown ironstone. This is an important offering for the rare fossil wood collector or for any opal collector. Weighing approximately 85 lbs and measuring 48 inches in length and 21inches in circumference at its widest point.
