Very large lot of cased, boxed, and mounted American military medals and insignia. Medals in titled cases: Air Medal, with full wrap brooch, engraved on the reverse "For Exceptionally Meritorious Achievement L. E. Venderwilt"; Purple Heart with slot brooch, named on the reverse "John Sobel"; Purple Heart, slot brooch, unnamed; Purple Heart, slot brooch, named on the reverse "William A. Dyke"; Legion of Merit, full wrap brooch numbered "3878", named on the reverse "Donald P. Rinque"; Selective Service Medal with broken case. three Bronze Stars with slot brooches and Distinguished Service Cross with crimp brooch. The following medals are boxed: two American Theater Campaign Medals; World War II Victory Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; two Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals; Asiatic - Pacific Theater Medal; World War I Army of Occupation Medal in box dated 1945. Included is a mounted medal group consisting of: American Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Campaign, Asiatic - Pacific Theater Campaign, Navy Occupation Service and American Defense. Along with the medals there is a whistle and a stunning bullion USS Enterprise (CVN-65) patch that measures 6 - 1/2" diameter. The second case of mounted medals includes mounted medals and rank insignia to commemorate a serviceman's career. The Medals are as follows: Two slot brooch Bronze Star Medals, both unnamed; one Commendation Medal, unnamed; one slot brooch Purple Heart, unnamed, with one oak leaf cluster on the ribbon bar; Good Conduct Medal engraved on the reverse to Joseph J. Wojnaroski; one National Defense Medal; one Army Occupation Medal; and one United Nations Service Medal for Korea. There is also clutch back combat infantry badge marked "sterling" on the reverse. Patches include 2nd Marine Division and Second Infantry Division shoulder patches. Lastly there a riker case with forty two medals and insignia. All of the medals in this case are unidentified. The medals include various valor and campaign medals as well as rank insignia. The notable medals include: one crimp brooch Navy Cross; one crimp brooch Distinguished Service Cross; three slot brooch Bronze Stars; one Good Conduct Medal; Various World War II and post World War II campaign, service, and occupation medals. Also included are four Brigadier General Stars, four Major General Stars, and one pair of Colonel rank insignia, all but one of the Major General Stars are marked "sterling". CONDITION: Most medals are in very good condition with some showing minor wear. All engraved medals are in excellent condition and display crisp engravings with the exception of the Purple Heart named to John Sobel: this medal is in decent condition but has worn with age. The engraving is legible but it is worn. Most of the medal boxes are in good condition with some showing wear from age.
