Lot consists of 17 Civil War related books. Highlights include multiple copies of PA Civil War regimental histories and an original copy of the 1862 "System of Target Practice" owner signed on the cover and inside by "Major John C. Hanshaw / AA General USA." Henshaw (1815-1877). Henshaw was a career army officer, having served with the 7th US Infantry in the Mexican War. His "Recollections of the War with Mexico" is valuable first-hand account of that conflict and he has an extensive record. Lot also includes 3 copies of the regimental history of the 111 PA Volunteers by Boyle, 2 copies of Judson's History of the 83rd PA, a copy of Pennsylvania at Antietam, and an original 1815 edition of Maltby Elements of War. CONDITION: Overall very good. Leather cover of Maltby 1815 is detached, 1862 System of Target Practice has small applied star sticker with inventory number on cover.
