Sale catalogue of the Lansdowne manuscripts; the auction never took place as the entire collection was sold privately to the British Museum for £4,925, granted for that purpose by Parliament. Included in the collection were some 115 volumes of the Cecil papers, Bishop Kennett's topographical collections, heraldic manuscripts, thirty volumes of the papers of Sir Julius Caesar and Philip Carteret Webb's large collection on parliamentary history. Together with the Cottonian and Harleian manuscripts, this is the most important component of the manuscript collections of what is now the British Library; its catalogue was published by the British Museum in 1819.
