Provenance : George Earl Church (manuscript note in pencil on verso of first blank, "this was 2 d copy of the George Earl Church Collection."). FIRST EDITION, with the world map tracing the voyages of Vasco da Gama, Cabral and Magellan. Despite the promise of the title, the work chiefly relates the discoveries and conquests made by the Portuguese in Asia and Africa. "It is, however, an esteemed and well-written work" (Sabin).
